Notes for LILY MAUDE WESTON:

Lil or Grandy to her grandchildren was born at home on 1st Ave, Toronto, and grew up in the Riverdale area. She moved to Haileybury as a bride and moved back to Toronto after her husband died. She lived at 50 Oxton Rd until 1990's where she moved into the nursing home. She lived on her own until she was 97 years old and moved into the care area of the home. The week she died she apologized that she wasn't going to make it to 100.

Grandy was the first woman in Canada to 2nd the nomination of a Premier. Grandy enjoyed travel and she and Robert were on their world tour in 1958 when Robert died on the train from Haileybury to Huntsville Ontario at the beginning of the trip. Grandy's sister Evelyn lived in the same small building and watched out for each other.

Robert was born in Grenville NWT where some of his relatives stayed and his family relocated to the Campbellford area where he grew up. He met Lily in Toronto and he took a position in Haileybury as a young lawyer starting out. He had a wicked sense of humour, Grandy told of the train ride up north and when they went through a few shanty towns and forests he said that was what Haileybury was like, Grandy burst into tears and fretted the rest of the trip to find Haileybury quite civilized.

Notes for WALTER FREDERICK BURGENER:

Fred had his own cabinet making company and in latter years taught cabinet making at George Brown College. In 1956 he built his house in Scarborough Ont. it resembles a Swiss ski chalet, Derek and Jane still live there.

While on a canoe weekend on the Madawaska River Fred died of a massive heart attack. Fred's cremated remains are waiting on his bookcase for Jane's than both will take thier last trip down the Madawaska River together.
